📄 Building Better Pages: A Guide to the Page Editor

Creating a new page for your school site is like working in a word processor. Our Rich Text Editor gives you the freedom to customize your content while ensuring everything stays professional and on-brand.

✍️ Mastering the Rich Text Editor

The Main Content section is where your story lives. You can use the toolbar to make your text dynamic and scannable:

  • Standard Formatting: Use Bold, Italics, or <u>Underline</u> to highlight key information.

  • Text Alignment: Choose from Left, Center, Right, or Justified (static lines) to change the flow of your page.

  • Styles & Hierarchy: Use the Normal dropdown to transform plain text into:

    • Headings (H1, H2, H3): Crucial for organizing long pages.

    • Lists: Perfect for bulleted or numbered information.

    • Quotes: To make staff or student testimonials stand out.

    • Formatted Code: For advanced technical snippets.

  • The "+ Insert" Menu: This is your "Magic Button." Use it to add Tables, Images, and other media directly into your text area.

⚙️ Page Settings & Controls

Beyond the text editor, the right-hand sidebar and bottom panels allow you to control the "where" and "when" of your page.

  • Multi-Site Selection: Choose which school sites in your district should host this page.

  • Scheduling: Use the Publish Date to write a page now and have it go live later. Use the Expiry Date for temporary content (like "Summer Reading Lists").

  • Templates & Structures: Choose from layouts pre-built by our team to ensure your data is structured perfectly for your school’s design.

  • Privacy Levels: Switch between Public (everyone can see) or Staff (requires a login).

  • URL Redirects: If you’re moving an old page to this new one, add a redirect so parents don't hit a "404 Not Found" error.

🔗 Connecting Content: Ordered Lists

One of the most powerful features of our Page tool is the ability to include an Ordered List directly on the page.

  • Want to show a list of "Related News" at the bottom of an article?

  • Need a "Resource Sidebar" of Fragments? You can select an existing Ordered List to appear on your page to keep your content connected and dynamic.

💡 Pro-Tip for Scannability

Most parents visit school sites on their phones. To make your pages mobile-friendly:

  1. Use Headings: They help users "skim" to the section they need.

  2. Use Bullets: Large blocks of text are hard to read on small screens.

  3. Check Your Image Size: Use the "Insert" function to add images, but make sure they aren't so large that they slow down the page loading time!
