How to Create an Ordered List

How to Create an Ordered List

Ordered Lists: Bringing Your Content Together

If Fragments, News, and Pages are the "building blocks" of your site, Ordered Lists are the blueprints that tell those blocks where to sit.

An Ordered List is a collection of items displayed together in a specific section of your website. Use them to create:

  • Quick Link Sidebars (using Fragments)

  • Featured News Sections

  • Upcoming Events Highlights

  • Resource Lists for Parents or Students

Phase 1: Create the List

  1. Open the Manager: Log in to Content Manager and select Ordered Lists from the left-hand sidebar.

  2. Add a New List: Click the blue + Add List button in the top right corner.

  3. Set the Scope: Choose which schools this list applies to and set your Publish/Expiry dates if needed.

  4. Identify the List: Give it a Name and Description (e.g., "Homepage Quick Links").

  5. Set the Type: Choose the Content Type (Fragments, Events, etc.) and the Structure.

  6. Save: Once the foundation is set, click Create.

Phase 2: Adding Your Content

Now that you’ve built the "container," it’s time to pick the items that go inside!

  1. Open Select Content: Inside your list, click on the Select Content button.

  2. Find Your Items: Use the search bar to find specific titles, or use the Tags filter to browse your library.

  3. Add to List: When you find the piece of content you want, click the blue Select button next to it.

  4. Organize: You can now see your selected items in the list and move them around to get the order just right!

Fine-Tune with Overrides (Optional)

Sometimes you want the list to show different information than the original item. You can "override" specific fields to customize the look:

  • ContentTitle: Change the display name of an item just for this specific list.

  • ContentExpireAt: Set a unique expiration date for the item within this list.

  • IconLink: Swap out the icon used for the link to better fit your list’s style.

That's it! Your content is now connected and ready for the site.
