Creating Fragments: Your Custom Action Buttons

Think of Fragments as the "quick links" or "shortcut buttons" of your website!

Whether it’s a direct link to the Bell Schedule, a Calendar, or your Contact Form, Fragments make it easy for parents and students to find exactly what they need with one click. They live inside Ordered Lists, which act like a container to display these buttons on your site.

How to Create a Fragment

Follow these steps to build your custom button:

1. Find the Fragment Manager

Log in to Content Manager and select Fragments from the left-hand sidebar.

2. Start Building

Click the blue Create Fragment button in the top-right corner to open the editor.

3. Choose the Destination

  • Sites: Select which of your sites should have access to this fragment.

  • Privacy Level: Decide if this is for the Public (everyone) or Staff Only (requires a login).

4. Dates and Organization (Optional)

  • Publish & Expiry: You can schedule a fragment to appear and disappear automatically—perfect for seasonal links like "Holiday Concert Tickets!"

  • Tags: Add tags to keep your fragments organized behind the scenes.

5. Title Your Fragment

Give your fragment a clear title. This helps you identify it later when you’re adding it to your website.

6. Choose Your Structure

This is where you decide how the button looks! While you can use any structure, these are specifically designed to look great as fragments:

  • Call to Action: A bold button that grabs attention.

  • Icon Link: A sleek link paired with a helpful icon.

  • Navigation Call to Action: Perfect for sidebar or menu-style links.

7. Make it Official

Once you’ve filled out the details, click Create. You’ve just built your fragment!

Next Step: Connect it to your Site!

Creating the fragment is like building a beautiful sign—now you need to hang it up!

To make your fragment visible on your website, you’ll need to add it to an Ordered List. This is the "connector" that tells your website exactly where those buttons should sit.
