How to Update a Bus Status

It’s always a relief for parents to get clear, real-time updates when it comes to the bus. Here is a friendly, step-by-step guide on how to get those status updates live.

How to Update a Bus Status

When plans change or delays happen, the Status tool is your fastest way to keep the community informed. Here is how to create a new status update:

1. Head to Transportation

Log in to Content Manager and click on Transportation in the left-hand sidebar.

2. Add a New Status

Click on the Status tab at the top of the page, then select the blue + Add Status button.

3. Choose the Status Type

How is the bus running? Select the most accurate option from the dropdown:

  • On Time (Great news!)

  • Delayed

  • Cancelled

  • Delayed (Mechanical)

  • Cancelled (Mechanical)

4. Select Your Routes & Areas

  • Routes: Choose exactly which bus routes are affected (e.g., Route 1 and Route 5).

  • Areas (Optional): If the delay affects an entire neighbourhood (like the South side), you can select the specific Area here as well.

5. Pick the Timeframe

When is this happening? Let parents know if this affects the:

  • Morning

  • Afternoon

  • All Day

  • Ongoing (Perfect for long-term construction or route changes)

  • Other

6. Add the Details (Notes)

The Notes section is your space to add context. A quick note like "Traffic delay on Main St—expect a 15-minute wait" or "Replacement bus coming from the depot" goes a long way in helping parents plan their day.

7. Create!

Once everything looks correct, click Create. Your update is now live and helping parents stay informed.

Pro-Tip for "Ongoing" Statuses

If a route is going to be delayed for a week due to roadwork, use the Ongoing time setting. This keeps the status visible so you don't have to remember to log in and update it every single morning!
